Death & Dying
"The meaning of life is that it ends" - Franz Kafka
-
What does a postpartum doula do?A postpartum doula supports families after the birth of a baby by offering hands-on help, emotional support, and reliable guidance. This might include feeding support (breast/chest/bottle), newborn care, diapering, burping, babywearing help, meal prep, light tidying, and making sure parents get time to rest, shower, or eat.
-
What does a typical shift look like?Every family’s needs are different, but a typical 3–4 hour shift might include holding and soothing baby while a parent naps, helping with feeding or burping, preparing a snack or simple meal, tidying up the kitchen, folding baby laundry, or just talking through how things are going. I’m there to ease your load and make sure you're not doing it all alone.
-
How is this different from hiring a nanny?A nanny focuses primarily on childcare, while a postpartum doula supports the whole family—especially the birthing parent’s recovery and emotional wellbeing. I’m trained to help with the physical, mental, and emotional adjustments that come after birth, and my goal is to help your household feel more balanced and supported.

When should I reach out for postpartum support?Anytime—but the earlier the better! Some families book before baby arrives to ensure support during those tender first weeks. Others reach out after birth when they realize they could use an extra set of hands and heart. I offer flexible scheduling, but ensuring support earlier gives families the peace of mind in knowing they won't be alone in the early weeks.

What I Do Not Offer as a Death & Dying Doula:
While I offer emotional, spiritual, energetic, and practical support during the dying process, there are important areas that are outside the scope of my role:
-
I do not provide or administer medical care.
-
I do not replace hospice, palliative care teams, or licensed healthcare providers.
-
I do not perform physical or psychological assessments.
-
I do not communicate with medical professionals on your behalf.
-
I do not make decisions for you or your family.
-
I do not direct or lead legal or financial planning, but I can support you in organizing these conversations and finding trusted resources.

My role is to empower you, support your choices, and hold space for you — not to direct your care or speak for you.
